Performing Thursday, June 6 at 5 pm and Saturday, June 7 at 7:00 pm | Fountain Stage at Regents Square
Mariachi Plata originated in the Spring of 2014 as part of the Music Program revival under the direction of University President, Dr. Joseph Shepard.
The ensemble began with only 5 students and has since grown to be as large as 15 students in the performing ensemble and is quickly attracting more attention. Plata has brought recognition to the university by placing 2nd at the international competition held in Albuquerque, NM in 2016. Mariachi Plata has performed for many prominent figures and events throughout the Southwest, including Governor Martinez and a performance at the Sante Fe Opera House.
