Bag N’ Go

Boca de Tomatlán, Jalisco

Bag N’ Go is a socially conscious artisan initiative based in Boca de Tomatlán, Jalisco, a coastal village south of Puerto Vallarta. The project focuses on transforming recycled plastic into durable, colorful bags while providing reintegration opportunities for individuals deprived of liberty.

The artisans craft a variety of practical and sustainable products, including tote bags, purses, and other accessories, using a material known locally as “toquilla,” derived from recycled plastic. These items are lightweight, easy to clean with just water and soap, and designed for everyday use.

Beyond its environmental mission, Bag N’ Go has a strong social commitment. It offers a second chance to individuals seeking self-improvement and the rebuilding of family bonds, facilitating their reintegration into society. The project supports five local families, providing them with stable income and recognition for their artisanal talent, which enhances their self-esteem and motivation to continue creating.

All products come from small families, with a special focus on supporting individuals who have been incarcerated and lack family support. By believing in them, Bag N’ Go aims to foster positive change and personal growth.

By purchasing a Bag N’ Go product, customers not only acquire a high-quality item but also contribute to environmental conservation and the well-being of communities undergoing reintegration.

For Fiesta Latina 2025, the Bag N’ Go project would be represented by Sophia Viviana Romo.
